No impact on NMB dams following Wednesday's rain

PE weather office spokesperson Garth Sampson says while the overnight rain may have been good for the gardens and water tanks, it did very little to change the grave water crisis the Metro is in.

Sampson says Nelson Mandela Bay’s four main supply dams in the main catchment area in the Langkloof received less than ten millimetres.

He says this will have very little and most probably no effect on dam levels which are currently tottering at just over 16% of total combined capacity.

According to the latest figures up until 8 am on Thursday, 6 millimetres was measured at the airport and 12 millimetres at 3rd avenue dip in Newton Park.

In the Langkloof, Joubertina received 3.6 mm and Kareedouw 3.2 mm.

The Kouga Dam measured 5.3 mm and Patensie 7.2

Elsewhere, George received 15.5 mm, Mossel Bay 11.8 and Plettenberg Bay 14.2
