Large parts of the Langkloof in the heart of Nelson Mandela Bay’s main catchment area are covered in snow on Tuesday.
Avontuur looks like a winter wonderland while it has also been snowing outside Joubertina, at Misgund, at Uniondale and at Twee Riviere.
Garth Sampson at the PE Branch of the SA Weather Service says the run-off from the snow is always good news for the dams.
Officials figures are still being awaited, but Joubertina had in the region of 12 mm of rain on Monday night.
The SA Weather Service in Port Elizabeth also issued several warnings and advisories for Tuesday.
Warnings:
Gale force SW winds are expected along the coast between Tsitsikamma coast and Kei River Mouth and high seas with wave heights between 6 and 9m can be expected between Plettenberg Bay and Port St Johns.
Watches:
Disruptive snowfalls expected over northwestern high ground.
Advisory:
Snowfalls are expected over the high ground of the Eastern Cape.
Eskom says the severe weather conditions in the Province is affecting some of their transmissions and distribution infrastructure in Joubertina Kareedouw and surrounding areas.
Residents are urged to report damaged/fallen conductors to Customer Services.
