Isolated showers, accompanied by high winds in places, fell over the coastal regions of the Eastern Cape overnight with under 5 mm measured.
Garth Sampson at the PE Branch of the SA Weather Service reports that only a few millimetres were recorded in Nelson Mandela Bay’s main catchment area in the Langkloof.
Cold, windy and wet conditions are expected to persist over the bulk of the province as a cold front moves over the region later on Saturday.
Showers are expected south of the escarpment, especially along the coastal belt and adjacent interior between Plettenberg Bay and East London
This will be accompanied by strong winds.
Sampson says snow can be expected over the high ground, especially over the Sneeuberg, Winterberg and Tsitsikama Mountains.
The SA Weather Office also issued a warning of high seas with wave heights in excess of 6m that can be expected along the South Coast on Thursday, spreading to Coffee Bay by noon and reaching Port Edward in the afternoon.
