Langkloof gets timely boost with recent rainfall

Nelson Mandela Bay’s main catchment area in the Langkloof received a timely boost over the past two days as welcome rain fell over large parts of the province.

For the past two days, up until 8 am, Kareedouw measured 14.6 millimetres, the Kouga Dam 14 mm and Patensie 18.2.
Only three mm fell at Joubertina.

The dam levels as of Thursday is Kouga Dam at 11.02%, Churchill Dam at 65.39%, Impofu Dam 18.81% and the Groendal Dam at 31.27%.

The combined capacity of the dams is 22.05%.

In Nelson Mandela Bay, 24 mm was measured at the PE airport while the third avenue dip in Newton Park received 37 mm.

Elsewhere, Mthatha and surrounds, which suffered extensive damage in a Tornado on Tuesday night, received 26 mm of rain as well.

George enjoyed the highest rainfall figure the past two days of 46.8 mm, Mossel Bay measured 30.4 and Plettenberg Bay 29.

Further East, Port Alfred received a welcome 32.2 millimetres and inland Makhanda measured 18.8 mm and nearby Fort Beaufort 24 mm.

East London only received 5.6 mm and inland Bisho/King William’s Town recorded 27 mm of rain.
