Intense cold front heading our way

An intense cold front will affect parts of South Africa from Wednesday.

A spokesperson for SA Weather in Port Elizabeth, Garth Sampson, says the cold front will bring snow, rough seas, and strong to gale-force winds.

He says by Thursday snowfalls are expected over the high lying areas of the Eastern Cape which will result in very cold conditions until Friday.

Sampson says small stock farmers are thus advised to take the necessary precautions.

Along the coast, strong to gale force winds can be expected between Cape St Francis and Cannon Rocks and rain will move in over the western and northern parts of the province.

Sampson says by Friday, showers can be expected along the coast and adjacent interior.

Gale force westerly winds can be expected between Plettenberg Bay and Port St Johns on Thursday, moderating in the evening.

Very rough seas with wave heights of 4 to 6m are expected along the south coast from Thursday morning spreading eastwards and reaching Port Edward by Friday morning.

Light snow may also occur in places over the Sneeuberg and Winterberg on Thursday.

The rainfall between Cape St Francis and East London continues on Friday.
