Cold weekend predicted for the Eastern Cape


An intense cold front is expected to brush the Eastern Cape coastline on Friday, with isolated showers and rain along the coastal regions expected.

The PE branch of the SA Weather Service says on Saturday, a second cold front will move south of the country with winds expected to increase to 60km/h, reaching a maximum of 90km/h at times through to the evening.

This will continue into Sunday evening along the EC coastal areas.

The SAWS issued the following warnings and advisories for the weekend:

Warning:

A gale-force westerly wind of 65km/h with gusts of 90km/h is expected along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Algoa Bay on Friday evening which will continue into Sunday.

Advisories:

A gale-force northwesterly wind of 62km/h with gusts of 85km/h is expected in Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality.
High seas with wave heights in excess of 6m is expected between Plettenberg Bay and Cannon Rocks overnight into Sunday.
A gale-force westerly wind of 65km/h with gusts of 90km/h is expected along the coast between Port Alfred and East London from Sunday morning.
