Two major roads in the Eastern Cape were closed for traffic on Tuesday night following heavy snowfalls.
Snow has been reported on the mountains around Graaff-Reinet and Barkley East and along the escarpment up to Maclear.
Reports of snow were also received from Hogsback, the Tsitsikamma, Kouga and the Swartberg Mountains.
Notable minimum temperatures were minus four degrees at Barkley East and Aliwal North, minus five degrees at Buffelsfontein/Molteno and minus three degrees at Graaff-Reinet.
Jamestown had a minimum of -0.4 and a maximum of -0.2 on Tuesday while Port Elizabeth recorded its coldest maximum temperature for the year at just 12 degrees.

The N9 from Graaff Reinet to Middelburg as well as the R61 from Cradock towards the N9 were re-opened for traffic on Wednesday morning.
The roads, however, are slippery and motorists are urged to drive with caution.
