Nelson Mandela Bay’s main catchment areas missed out again on Tuesday with a mere 1.8 mm of rain being measured at Kareedouw.

The Metro is in desperate need of some big rains in the catchment area before the end of winter to avoid a looming day-Zero.

According to the latest figures released by the Municipality, the Metro’s four main supply dams were at a mere 17.46% of total combined capacity on Monday.

Garth Sampson at the PE Branch of the SA Weather Service reports that the welcome rain overnight just brushed the coastline with PE Airport and Cape St Francis both receiving just over 12 mm.

Plettenberg Bay received 31 mm.

Sampson says isolated showers are expected during Wednesday and overnight, along the coast.
