German triathlete, Nils Fromhold, won the 10th edition of IronMan South Africa in Port Elizabeth on Sunday in a time of eight hours 26 minutes.
A few minutes behind him was PE born athlete Kyle Buckingham and another German, Faris Al Sultan, who came in third.
Buckingham was 9th in the 70.3 in East London in January in his first event as a professional. He took a 'quantam leap' with his second placing in his home event in his first full iroman as a professional.
Switzerland's Simone Brandli won the women's section in a time of 9-hours 31 minutes ahead of Lucy Gossage of the UK and another Brit, Jodie Swallow in third.
