History was made at St Georges Park in Port Elizabeth on Saturday when Eastern Province Cricket voted in their first ever female vice president at their Annual General Meeting.
Di-Tai Marais was nominated by United Brothers from Zwide and will serve a three year term alongside her husband Hilton, who is also on the new Board.
Di-Tai has been involved in cricket administration for many years and said her immediate goal was to grow the women's game and get EP Cricket back to where it belongs.
She said cricket in the province had been a bit unstable for the past three years and that she'd be focussing on getting the momentum going and growing the game in the Eastern Cape.
Donovan May, who was re-elected for what will be his 3rd three-year term as President of EP Cricket, said he was delighted to have a woman of Marais' calibre serving alongside him as vice-president.
He said her appointment was great news as it was clear that EP Cricket was addressing the issue of gender equality.
He said he was excited to have a woman vice-president that he could mentor moving forward.
May added that EP Cricket was sticking to the country's constitution by addressing the issues of gender and transformation and that all the right boxes had now been ticked at the right time.
