PE-based Surfing South Africa vice-president, Johnny Bakker, has announced that Jeffrey's bay surfers, Dylan Lightfoot and Gina Smith, will be captain and vice captian respectively of the 2013 South African Junior Surfing team, as they head to Nicaragua next month.
They will compete in the 2013 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, a prestigious surfing event that is regarded as the "Olympics" of junior surfing, and the tournament will take place from 8-16 June.
Dylan and Gina were honoured during a formal ceremony in Durban at the weekend, where the official hand over of the Protea blazers to the members of SA Junior Surfing team took place.
Also in the team is Matt McGillivray from Port Elizabeth. Bakker is the team manager and Graham Hynes from St Francis Bay is the team coach.
