Rilee Rossouw has been called up to the Proteas squad, replacing retired Jacques Kallis for their three-match one-day international series in Zimbabwe later this month.
Selection convenor Andrew Hudson says Rossouw is coming off a very impressive South Africa 'A' series in Australia in which he scored 337 runs at an average of 48, with a strike rate of 96.
Young KZN seam bowler Mthokozisi Shezi has also been called up as the selectors have decided to rest Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel for the Zimbabwe series.
Hudson said, however, that the trio of first-choice bowlers will return to Zimbabwe for a subsequent triangular series, which will also include Australia.
Marchant de Lange and Kyle Abbott are the other two fast bowling replacements.
South Africa and Zimbabwe play a one-off test match at Harare Sports Club from this Saturday, 9 August.
The three-match ODI series will be played on the 17th, 19th and 21st of this month, and will be followed by the Triangular Series with Australia.
