South Africa finished on 243 for 3 to win by 7 wickets with Temba Bavuma undefeated on 23 alongside his captain Dean Elgar on a masterful 96 - he fittingly hit the winning runs.
Van der Dussen was the man out in an absorbing afternoon session for a fighting 40 as South Africa beat India in a Test match at the Wanderers for the very first time.
Its also South Africa's highest successful Test run chase at the Wanderers.
