South Africa sealed a 2-1 test series victory against India after beating the visitors by seven wickets at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday.
The victory came with well over a day to spare and heralded the arrival of Keegan Petersen who was named man of the match and series for his three half-centuries which included scores of 62,72 and 82 in the test decider.
South Africa resumed their second innings on 101 for two, needing 212 to win.
Petersen and Rassie Van der Dussen put on a solid partnership before Petersen went to Shardul Thakur after playing one onto his wicket following an inside edge.
Temba Bavuma, who made 32, and Rassie van der Dussen, with 41, put on a partnership of 57 off 105 balls, with Bavuma sweeping Ashwin for a four to seal the win.
Coach, Mark Boucher, paid tribute to Captain Dean Elgar and Vice-Captain, Temba Bavuma, describing them both as fighters.
"When you have two leaders like that, the guys are going to certainly follow and both of them stood up in terms of their games as well," he said.
