The Proteas have suffered a humiliating loss to the Netherlands, losing by 13 runs at the Adelaide Oval, and exiting the World Cup on Sunday.
South Africa made 145 for 8 in their 20 overs, in pursuit of the Netherlands' total of 158 for 4.
Proteas openers, Captain Temba Bavuma contributed 20, while Quinton de Kock went for 13.
Rilee Rossouw contributed 25 and Heinrich Klaasen, 21 while Aiden Markram and David Miller could only muster 17 runs each.
The next best batsman was Keshav Maharaj who made 13. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortjie chipped in with 9 and 4 in an otherwise poor run chase.
“It is rather disappointing. We really played well up until this point in the tournament. It is a hard one to swallow for the boys,” said Bavuma, in the post-match interview on Supersport.
“I look at myself first, winning the toss and bowled first and restricted them to 158 was not ideal, and then with the bat we just came unstuck, losing wickets at crucial times,” Bavuma said.
“It just wasn’t good enough.”
