A marathon meeting between a Mayoral Task Team and municipal workers unions Samwu and Imatu has broke the impasse that led to Port Elizabeth residents being denied services.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro says in a statement that staff at municipal libraries, all officers of the traffic department, and workers of the electricity and energy department will now be back at their posts on Monday 15 July to provide services for their respective directorates.
Mayoral Task Team spokesperson Bheza Ntshona says the negotiations were intricate and sensitive since the concerns raised cut across different directorates.
He says ultimately they agreed on all the issues raised.
The report of the Mayoral Task Team will be tabled at a Special Council meeting on Thursday.
Ntshona said management will now work on a strategy to determine how to best deal with expired licenses and other issues that the community faced due to the strike action.
