Phil Mickelson heads to the British Open at Muirfield this week in the best form possible after ending a 20-year European winless drought with a play-off victory in the Scottish Open on Sunday.
Mickelson captured his 50th pro career success after defeating South African Branden Grace with a birdie at the first extra hole.
Both players had ended regulation play tied at 17-under par - but a magical trade-mark wedge from Mickelson set up the winning birdie on the 73rd hole.
Meanwhile: Jordan Spieth become the youngest player to win on the US PGA Tour since 1931 after the 19-year-old took the John Deere Classic title on the fifth hole of sudden-death.
Spieth, who had holed out from a bunker on the last hole to join a playoff, ended up beating Zach Johnson and Canadian David Hearn after the trio finished the regulation 72 holes tied at 19-under-par.
Spieth earned a spot in this week's British Open at Muirfield.
