GBets Rocks reign supreme at St Georges Park

Cricket South Africa

The CSA T20 Challenge at St Georges Park produced one for the books as the Gbets Rocks from Paarl claimed their first trophy as debutants in the Cricket South Africa Division 1 league.

They beat the Momentum Multiply Titans by 15-runs in a spectacular CSA T20 Challenge final at St Georges on Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, captain Pieter Malan led from the front as he anchored the Rocks innings with a solid 71 off 56 balls. He smashed two boundaries and five maximums even though wickets kept falling around him.

Hardus Viljoen smashed his way to 32 not out off 16 deliveries as the Rocks ended their innings on 138/6.

The Rocks bowlers continued where their skipper had left off and dismissed the Titans openers early in the innings as they slipped to 34/3 at the end of powerplay.

The Titans could never quite recover and were held to 123/9 in their 20 overs.

The 'wine farmers' recorded great bowling figures with Imran Manack (2/14 in 4 overs), Hardus Viljoen (2/14 in 3 overs), and Siyabonga Mahima (2/22 in 4 overs) helping the GBets Rocks to a famous victory.
