Dawie van der Walt claimed his first European and Sunshine tour victory with a final round five under 67 to win the Tshwane Open at The Els Club, Copperleaf yesterday.
Van der Walt finished on a 21 under 267 total, two shots ahead of Darren Fichardt - who won the Africa Open in East London two weeks ago.
With the win, Van der Walt gains a European Tour exemption until the end of 2015.
On the local amateur scene; Christiaan Bezuidenhout of Nigel revelled in a weekend of calm conditions to win the Border/EP Strokeplay Championships at the Fish River Sun.
He shot rounds of 70, 68 and 69 for a 54-hole total of 9-under par 207.
Bezuidenhout was a run-away winner by six shots over Matthew Sutherland of George and the two Tshwane amateurs Teaghan Gauche and Philip Kruse.
PE Golf Club's Hando Brophy was another shot back in sole possession of 5th place.
