Proteas opening batsman Alviro Petersen is putting the finishing touches to his Foundation's second annual cricket challenge which will be played in his home town of Port Elizabeth next month.
It will be played at Otto du Plessis High School on Saturday the 11th of October.
The first match at 9am will be a 20-over a side affair between Fontuin and Gelvandale Primary followed by the main game at 1pm between Gelvandale High and Otto du Plessis High.
Petersen attended Fontuin, Gelvandale and Otto during his formative years and told AlgoaFM sport the winners on the 11th of October were in for a special surprise, which he was keeping under wraps until the big day.
He said it was all in line with what he wants to achieve with this Foundation, with a lot of drug awareness programmes having already been started.
"We've given the kids alternatives with sport and we're supplying cricketing equipment. Its all another small step for the Foundation in a few massive steps to come so I think its very exciting," he said.
