The Moseneke Inquiry has concluded that it is not reasonably possible or likely that the October Local Government Elections would be free and fair.
Retired Deputy-Chief Justice, Dikgang Moseneke, was appointed by the Electoral Commission after some political parties raised concern about holding elections amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
He recommended that the elections be postponed, but held on a date no later than the end of February 2022.
The Commission further said it will now retreat to consider the recommendations put forth by Judge Moseneke.
