Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Nqaba Bhanga is expected to kick start his mayoral campaign in Kwazakhele on Tuesday morning.

Bhanga met with his mother in the area and was welcomed by her friends who wished him well for his campaign.

After hosting a meeting with residents he is expected to visit the SPCA in Uitenhage.

Bhanga will end a full day of campaigning in Despatch where he will host another meeting.

He was nominated for a second time as the Mayoral Candidate for the Democratic Alliance for the upcoming local government elections.

DA Leader John Steenhuisen announced all candidates in Gqeberha on Monday.

The DA says it is open to forming a coalition government, should the party not win the outright majority in the upcoming local government elections.

Party leader, John Steenhuisen said this was not without conditions, adding that they would only form coalitions with parties that shared the same core values.

Steenhuisen said the DA had learnt hard lessons around forming coalition governments over the last five years.
