The ANC has confirmed that its offices around the country will be closed on Thursday due to staff members embarking on a strike over unpaid salaries.
The payment of salaries has once again been delayed as the governing party’s financial woes continue with the party saying it's been unable to pay staffers due to cash flow problems.
In a statement released by the party on Wednesday, it said it is not yet in a position to pay outstanding salaries for July.
ANC General Manager, Febe Potgieter, further said the payment of August 2021 salaries, which are due now, are thus also delayed.
She said the hardship and uncertainty that this has caused staff and their families, is deeply regrettable.
Potgieter said despite the challenges of the pandemic and the economic situation, they were able to pay staff their full pay for the first 14 months since Covid.
She further lauded staff members for their commitment and dedication, despite these difficulties and who continue to diligently serve the organisation.
The party's national spokesperson Pule Mabe, said they will continue to engage with staff members on the salary issue.
