Tuesday's Nelson Mandela Bay Council meeting started on a sombre note as council mourned the passing of the late councillor, Tsepo Ndwalaza.
The late Democratic Alliance Councillor and former Eastern Cape National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson passed away two weeks ago after battling health issues following a stroke.
His family and wife, Sindy attended the meeting where Ndwalaza's name card was officially removed from his seat.
EFF councillor, Ntombizanele Sikawuthi, apologised to the family on behalf of the council for traumatising him on his last days by forcing him to switch on his video camera to prove that he was capable of participating in the voting process.
At the time, Ndwalaza joined the meeting via Zoom.
DA councillor, Nicholas Nyathi, said Ndwalaza would be remembered as a patriotic South African who served his community.
He says the late Ndwalaza was the first DA councillor who was welcomed in the Walmer Township and that he had the ability to make friends with people from different political parties.
