Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMB) says it will re-do Ward Committee Elections in four wards following several incidents, including an armed robbery of election material.
Metro spokesperson, Mthubanzi Mniki, says gunmen forced their way into the Councillor's office in Ward 43 in Kariega on Wednesday, while officials were finalising an audit of votes, taking election material.
He also says a ballot box was set alight in Ward 46 in Kwanobuhle in Kariega, while in Ward 37 members of a political party reportedly stormed into a voting station and also removed voting material.
These incidents were reported to the police while the City's Safety and Security Directorate will conduct is also conducting its own probe.
The motive has not yet been established.
Mniki says security will be tightened during the re-elections.
