ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa and senior party leaders have been named as respondents in the fraud and corruption charges laid by scorned former member, Carl Niehaus.
Niehaus provided details of the pro forma charge sheet in a Tweet on Wednesday, in which he and other ANC employees who have not been paid for several months, are alleging fraud and theft, among other charges.
Niehaus was booted out of the ANC recently for going public with claims that the cash-strapped governing party had not paid over the UIF and medical aid contributions of its staff, even though the deductions were made from their salaries.
The charges were laid at the Johannesburg Central Police Station.
In August, the ANC confirmed that the payment of salaries has once again been delayed as the governing party’s financial woes continue with the party saying it's been unable to pay staffers due to cash flow problems.
ANC General Manager, Febe Potgieter, said salaries for July and August 2021 are still delayed.
She said the hardship and uncertainty that this has caused staff and their families, is deeply regrettable.
The party's national spokesperson Pule Mabe, said they will continue to engage with staff members on the salary issue.
