South Africans will go to the polls on 1 November for the 2021 Local Government Elections.
This was announced on Wednesday afternoon by the Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The announcement of the election date followed the recent decision by the Constitutional Court to dismiss the IEC's application to postpone the elections to a date next year.
The Court instructed the IEC to announce a date for voter registration, which will now be on the 18th and 19th of this month and also ordered
Minister Dlamini-Zuma to set a date for the elections between the 27th of October and the 1st of November.
The proclamation of the new date will be done officially after the voter registration weekend
