President Jacob Zuma will call on Nelson Mandela Bay on Friday for the official launch of the Port of Ngqura outside Port Elizabeth.
Municipal spokesperson Kupido Baron says the ceremony will be held at the deepwater industrial port.
The Port has been under construction for the last 12 years and has been integrated with the Coega Industrial Development Zone, and is of major strategic importance to the country.
The launch will take place just a week after the President officially opened the Dube TradePort in Durban.
Both projects were outlined in the State of the Nation Address in which the President unveiled a major infrastructure development programme.
