Gqeberha detectives are searching for the suspect, or suspects, responsible for shooting and wounding a 23-year-old woman in Walmer township on Friday.
Spokesperson, Captain André Beetge says it is alleged that an eyewitness said that the woman came running to him for help, clutching her chin.
He says she could not speak and it became clear that she was shot and wounded just under the chin.
Beetge says she was taken to hospital for medical attention.
A case of attempted murder is being investigated.
