Gqeberha police have opened an inquest docket after a young woman died in a house fire in Hudson Street in Glen Hurd.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says on arrival at the scene late on Monday evening, members saw flames coming out of the roof.
She says a 25-year-old autistic woman, who was in the back room of the house, died.
Colonel Naidu says she was the daughter of the house owner.
She says it is suspected that the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault in the roof.
