The dangers of women drinking while pregnant will be brought home on Friday during a roadshow in Port Elizabeth to highlight the growing problem of foetal alcohol syndrome.
The Eastern Cape Liquor Board will join several government departments for an awareness programme in Timothy Valley.
The roadshow was sparked by recent reports of young girls in Nelson Mandela Bay drinking while pregnant.
Eastern Cape Liquor Board CEO, Gonza Mati, explains why their campaign is targeting Timothy Valley in Port Elizableth's northern areas.
"We have identified that there are young kids with FAS and there is also ignorance amongst young women. We were told that there are young woman who drink while they are pregnant, we went to the area and interviewed them, and they said they were not aware of the dangers" Mati said.
