A young girl, somewhere between the ages of seven and nine, has drowned in the Knysna lagoon.
NSRI Knysna station commander, Graeme Harding, says the child's body was recovered by a local paddler, Tony Cook, who tried to revive her.
Harding says she was transferred to a passing rubber duck and brought ashore.
He says the girl was rushed to hospital where she was later declared dead.
Her identity has not yet been released.
