Uitenhage police have opened an inquest docket, after an eight-year-old boy was allegedly electrocuted by an open electrical wire in bushes at Kingstown, Despatch.
Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart says it is alleged that two children were playing in the area on Saturday afternoon when community members suddenly heard a scream and saw a child running out of the bushes.
She says the child informed them that the boy was shocked by an open wire that was lying on the ground.
The child was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
