Yet another elderly tied up in PE house robbery

Port Elizabeth police are hunting for the suspects involved in a house robbery in Theescombe on Monday night.

Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg says the 73-year-old home-owner was confronted by five suspects when he opened the door to let out his dog.

She says the elderly man was forced back inside and tied up.

The attackers, who were armed with a gun, knife, and crowbar, ransacked the house taking liquor, electronic equipment and cameras.

Captain Janse van Rensburg says the complainant managed to untie himself and contact the police.

On Saturday a group of suspects robbed an elderly woman and her son in Martin Street in Charlo.

The armed suspects tied up the 90-year-old woman and her 64-year-old son, before also ransacking their house.

The suspects even wanted to steal the woman's rings and tried unsuccessfully to bite it off her fingers.

During the robbery, they stole an entire safe with a revolved inside as well as the victim's vehicle which was later found abandoned in Prospect Road in Walmer.

No arrests have been made.
