The Food and Allied Workers Union says it will continue the fight to save the jobs of hundreds of workers following the closure of frozen food distributor McCain's in George.
This, after the company announced that it would be consolidating its operations in Springs.
Managing director, Louis Wolthers also blamed cheap imported products from China and Western Europe as contributing factors.
Fawu spokesperson in George, Thys Swartbooi, says they're very unhappy with the way that the company went about notifying workers about the closure of the facility.
He said today that they will be meeting with McCain workers where they will formulate counter proposals to the closure and will also consult suppliers and other stakeholders.
Swartbooi says its not just about the McCain workers but hundreds of people who will be affected.
