Serious doubts remain over the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's readiness to host a successful Splash Festival next weekend.
Newly appointed municipal manager, Dr Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela, announced on Wednesday that she had 'signed off on this year's Splash Festival'.
DA sports, arts, recreation and culture Councillor Andrew Whitfield was a guest on AlgoaFM earlier on Wednesday.
He said that with the tender process for Splash only closing next Monday 25 March, the successful applicant would have the near-impossible task of putting the event together in two days.
"The broader impact is really the confusion around this festival has created so much uncertainty among'st these service providers, residents and the tourists, so we have a massive potential of potential job losses that we cannot afford as well as a cost to our reputation as one of the countries premier coastal destinations for waters sports" Whitfield said.
