Work starts on damaged causeway connecting J'Bay and Paradise Beach

Work will begin next week to repair the damaged causeway that connects Paradise Beach to Aston Bay and Jeffreys Bay.

Kouga Municipal Manager Sidney Fadi says torrential rains and flooding last year caused significant structural damage to the causeway.

It will be closed to vehicles and pedestrian traffic from Tuesday the 5th of February and the repair work is expected to take about 3 months to complete.

Social services portfolio Councillor Thandeka Maseti said the alternative route for motorists and pedestrians will be the gravel road past Langkloof bricks.

The municipality received R2m from the disaster management grant.
