Cradock Police are still searching for the killers of 51-year-old Hettie Philps.
Her body was found tied up in the bathroom of her home in Aalwyn street on Wednesday.
She had been suffocated.
Police warrant officer Elmarie van Eck appealed to residents to stay alert as there have been a number of break-ins in the eastern parts of Cradock in the past two weeks.
Van Eck said the modus operandi for the break ins was the same in each case.
She said police were investigating the possibility that these house-robbers had also killed Hettie Philps.
