The wool market opened on a positive note at this week's first sale of the new season.
Cape Wools says its merino indicator shed 7.6% compared to the closing sale of the previous season, to close at R101.96 per kilogram for clean wool.
Spokesperson, Lizelle Delport says the sale was marked by good demand and keen competition from the various sectors of the trade, which supported the firm price level.
She says it was a large sale, with 98% of the more than 15 600 bales on offer sold.
The next auction is on 4 September, where approximately 9 000 bales will be on offer.
