A woman who claimed that she was raped at her house in a Hartenbos complex had lied about the incident.
The 40-year-old woman alerted Mossel Bay police to her house on the 21st of November, saying that she was raped by an unknown man.
She told police that she was busy hanging her washing when a man with blond hair and brown eyes accosted her.
The woman had injuries all over her body that she allegedly inflicted herself.
Police launched a search for the alleged rapist and compiled an identikit.
The woman, however, declared in a statement to police on Tuesday that she fabricated the whole incident.
She now faces charges of perjury and defeating the ends of justice.
