Woman walking dog makes grim discovery on PE beach

Police in Port Elizabeth are baffled as to how the body of an infant (aged between 1-2 months old) was found buried in the sand on the beach in Summerstrand.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says a resident was walking her dog along the beach on Sunday morning when the dog suddenly ran off.

She says the dog then found the partially buried infant in the sand.

Naidu says the sex of the baby cannot be determined due to the state of decomposition.

Anybody with information on who the parents might be or who know of a woman who may have given birth and is no longer with a child must please contact the Humewood police.
