Woman severely assaulted in KZN farm attack

 A woman has been severely assaulted in a farm attack in Thornville, near Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal.

Netcare 911's Chris Botha says the 63-year-old was critically injured in the attack at around midnight.

He says the elderly woman also suffered burn wounds.

She was stabilised at scene and transported to a nearby hospital.

No arrests have yet been made but police are searching for 3 suspects
