The body of a woman has been discovered in a forest at Thuthulare village at Centane in the Transkei.
Police captain Jackson Manatha says the 38 year-old woman attended a church service on Sunday afternoon but never made it home.
Her body was found on Monday and it is suspected that she had been strangled.
Manatha said there were no signs that she was raped.
Police had opened a murder docket and anyone with information is asked to contact the Centane Police Station at 047-498-1066 or use the Crime Stop number 08600-10111.
