Secondment of municipal manager can bring stability for NMBM

The secondment of Mpilo Mbambiso as Nelson Mandela Bay's acting municipal manger should bring some stability to the city's administration.

That's according to the superintendent-general in the Department of Local Government, Stanley Khanyile.

He will introduce Mbambiso at a closed session of the Nelson Mandela Bay Council on Tuesday following the resignation of Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela.

He says its up to Council to ratify Mbambiso's appointment.

"We are coming here today to the council meeting to ensure that Mr Mbambiso is brought in as the acting municipal manager through the formalisation of the meeting. We are hoping that this will bring stability to our supporters in provincial government" he said.

Khanyile says the Eastern Cape Department of Local Government is hoping that the appointment of a permanent municipal manager will be completed in the shortest possible time.

"We are looking at ensuring that at least within the next 3 months the process would have been concluded, hopefully there will not be any further hiccups. We are quite optimistic that in the shortest period of time the permanent appointment would have been made by council" he added.
