The deputy director general in the Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mpilo Mbambisa, has been appointed as the acting municipal manager for Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Mbambisa will be introduced to council on Tuesday by department director-general, Stanley Khanyisa.
He will be seconded to the Municipality until a full-time municipal manager is appointed following the resignation after four months of Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela.
She spent two of the four months on sick leave, after complaining to Local Government MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, about political interference in her work by the executive mayor, Benson Fihla and his deputy Chippa Ngcolomba.
