A 28-year-old woman made a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday where she was charged with the murder of an elderly man from Walmer.
The body of 87-year-old Richard Adams was found inside his locked bedroom wrapped in a blanket on Saturday.
Adams had sustained multiple stab wounds.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the victim's daughters went to visit him and became worried when he did not answer the door.
The women raised the alarm when they noticed movement from inside the house.
Colonel Naidu says police gained access through keys provided by the daughters and arrested 28-year-old Asheeka Abrahams and a 34-year-old man inside the house.
While searching the house, police had to force open the locked bedroom door where they found Adams' body.
During Thursday’s court proceedings, Asheeka Abrahams was remanded in custody until the 24th of June when she will apply for bail.
Colonel Naidu says her 34-year-old friend was released due to insufficient evidence.
The investigation continues.
