The family of the KwaZulu-Natal couple involved in fatal stabbing in a chalet at an Eastern Cape nature reserve say their loved ones woke up to two people attacking them.
The victim was identified as the 33-year-old Karen Turner, who was also two months pregnant.
Her husband, Matthew sustained multiple stab wounds to his upper body and was rushed to a Hospital in Mthatha for emergency surgery.
Karen's brother Ian Crouch has told ECR Newswatch that the family had booked into the Hluleka Nature Reserve for a week.
Crouch said he spoke to Matthew after surgery who told him that he woke up from being stabbed in the stomach and saw two intruders in the room.
Karen sustained several stab wounds and died at the scene.
The couple also has a two-year-old child who was with them at the chalet but found unharmed.
Crouch says the child is in the care of family members and is doing well.
Police are investigating a case of murder and assault.
Spokesperson Captain Dineo Koena says there was no forced entry and no valuables were stolen from the scene.
