Woman killed outside St Francis Bay tavern, allegedly by boyfriend

Eastern Cape police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly killing his girlfriend in St Francis Bay.

Police Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says it is alleged that the 26-year-old victim Jeanette Zono, was drinking inside a tavern in Sea Vista when her boyfriend arrived shortly before midnight on Friday.

He says the boyfriend wanted to speak to her and she followed him outside.

Nkohli says once they were in the street he allegedly stabbed her once in the chest and she died at the scene.

The man was arrested and will appear in the Humansdorp Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of murder.

The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.
