Humansdorp police have launched a manhunt for four armed suspects who robbed a business in Main Street on Sunday afternoon before fleeing in a bakkie with a female victim still inside.
Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says two armed men, who pretended to be customers, entered the store before pulling out firearms and ordering the sales clerk and customers to lie on the floor.
She says another two accomplices entered the store and they cleaned out the cash register before removing a safe from the office.
Captain Swart says a Nissan NP200 bakkie was parked outside and belonged to a customer who was inside the store.
The robbers loaded the safe onto the bakkie, and one suspect fled in the vehicle with a 39-year-old woman still inside.
His accomplices followed in a BMW.
Swart says the suspect dropped the woman off on the N2 just before Port Elizabeth.
The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and are still at large.
Police are investigating a case of business robbery, theft of motor vehicle and kidnapping.
