The Eastern Cape Health Department said that deep cleaning and decontamination of the Humansdorp Hospital is underway.
This, after the Department, confirmed “positive cases” at the hospital, including among staff members of a cleaning company working at the hospital.
Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, said on Sunday that “our priority is to ensure that those who have been affected by the virus receive support, but at the same time we need to balance that with getting the hospital back to normal.”
He said meetings were also taking place, with the Kouga Municipality assisting the process.
Kupelo said the hospital was "decanted" of patients.
He said that the Humansdorp Hospital was closed on Saturday but he said services are expected to resume on Monday once all the protocols have been followed.
